Family: Maverick grew up in a foster home, his 'mother' is extraordinarily abusive, and his siblings all look up to him since he's the oldest.
Personal: Maverick has always been abused but has never known a life any different. When he got his letter he was told by his mother that the school would pretend to be nice to him so he wouldn't leave. He didn't find it relaxing, not being told he was 'bad' for not finishing all his food, it was out of his comfort level having others be so kind to him. So he didn't tell anyone, and when he got in trouble when he got home, he kind of found relief with his mother shoving his head under the water in the bathtub for 30 seconds longer. It wasn't comfortable, but it was normal. As he grew up, he knew things weren't right, other kids didn't have bruises and such at school. By his sixth year, he hated leaving those children alone at his foster home, and swore when he was of age he'd save them all.
